“Almanac of Law”

Aims and Objectives

The aim of the scientific and practical legal journal “Almanac of Law” is to disseminate information on current issues relating to the development of the legal system.

This aim defines the main objectives:

— to promote the continuous updating, enrichment and preservation of legal information resources;

 — to help strengthen the connections between the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the academic and educational communities.

The doctrinal issues covered in the journal respond to practical challenges of contemporary life, in particular the state’s reform initiatives, public opinion regarding them, the dialogue between the state, civil society and the individual, and the role of law in all these processes as the most effective regulator of social relations.

A particular focus of the journal’s sections is on issues related to the protection of human rights, freedoms and legitimate interests; in particular, it examines the theoretical foundations of the differentiation and specification of rights (the rights of specific groups, such as young people), as well as the means, methods and forms of guaranteeing and ensuring individual rights.

The journal focuses primarily on issues relating to the theory of state and law, the philosophy and sociology of law. However, the subject matter presented as the ‘theoretical direction’ or ‘theoretical body of work’ of legal science implies ‘close collaboration’ with the various branches of legal science, as demonstrated within the pages of the publication.

The theoretical level of scholarly generalisations is ensured by the work of a professional editorial board, comprising academicians and corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academicians and corresponding members of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctors of Law, professors, Honoured Lawyers of Ukraine and Honoured Workers of Science and Technology of Ukraine.

Under the auspices of the journal, a number of All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conferences have been initiated and held, including ‘Legal Liability: Issues in Theory and Practice’ (Kyiv, 2010); ‘Understanding and Implementing the Law: From Theory to Practice’ (Kyiv, 2011); ‘Fundamental Principles of Law as Its Value Dimensions’ (Kyiv, 2012); ‘Freedom, Equality and Dignity of the Individual in Legal Theory and Practice’ (Kyiv, 2013); ‘Legal Worldview: Man and Law’ (Kyiv, 2014); ‘Value-based and legal foundations of contemporary integration processes in Ukraine’ (Kyiv, 2015); ‘Law and progress: components of safeguarding in contemporary conditions’ (Kyiv, 2016); ‘Human-centred approach in law: theoretical and applied foundations’ (Kyiv, 2017); ‘Legal analytics: doctrinal approaches and sectoral dimensions’ (Kyiv, 2018), ‘Legal Monitoring and Legal Expertise: Issues of Theory and Practice’ (Kyiv, 2019), ‘The Role of Legal Doctrine in Ensuring Human Rights’ (Kyiv, 2020), ‘Interpretation of Law: From Theory to Practice’ (Kyiv, 2021), ‘Current Issues in Legal Development in the Context of War and Post-War State Reconstruction’ (Kyiv, 2022), The 17th International Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Mechanisms for the Implementation of Law in the Context of Contemporary Transformations’ (Kyiv, 2026), etc.

These conferences were highly praised by the legal community, young academics and representatives of the media.
