To the question about sociallegal nature and forms of display of totalitarianism of the modern states

The article is devoted to the study of the socio-legal nature of totalitarianism and the forms of its manifestation in the activities of modern states. The concept, nature and characteristic features of totalitarianism are considered, as well as such important features of a legal state as the rule of law, popular sovereignty, separation of powers, real provision of the rights and freedoms of citizens, constitutionalism and democracy, the regime of legality and law and order, the authority of justice, the use of the court as a means of ensuring the proper functioning of the legal state,

the presence of a developed civil society.

The proposed article affi rms the approach according to which the study of any social phenomena should begin with the clarifi cation of those concepts that characterize the content and nature of the subject of study.
